  1. Lahaul & Spiti Valleys of Himachal Pradesh

    13 Days/ 12 Nights

    Under Rs 2,000

    Per person per night

Lahaul & Spiti are among the most spectacular and sparsely populated regions on Earth. Crossing the Rohtang La from Manali, they are the most desolate northern and eastern tracts of Himachal Pradesh. The districts are host to the famous Chandra and Bhaga valleys. Over the Kunzum La (4590M) you pass into the rain shadow of the Great Himalayan Range arriving into Spiti, showcasing snow-topped mountains, high-altitude desert, punctuated by tiny patches of greenery and villages of whitewashed houses clinging to the sides of rivers and meltwater streams.

Chandra Taal, commonly referred to as the “Moon Lake”; is a high altitude lake at an altitude of 4,300 meters, source of Chandra River. Its name “Chandra” is believed to be derived from its moon-like shape. Sitting in between high rising snowcapped peaks, this place is heaven for anyone who has even the slightest of interest in photography or nature. During the night, the sky lights up with countless stars and is perfect for some excellent night captures.

*From here we head towards Chatru and face some of the biggest waterfalls crossing the road which can be a nightmare for any non-experienced driver.
*The terrain will take a drastic change from Chatru and all you will see is rocks all over with huge streams crossing the road and converging in the ruthless Chandra river.
*The jumpy ride with a non-existent road which started from Gramphoo will end in Lohar. From Lohsar head to Kaza after a small break. It will take another 2 hours of a beautiful journey.

*Dhankar monastery claimed to be 1000 years old, is on the cliff of a mountain over-looking the confluence of Pin and Spiti river.
*Due to the loose soil that is prevalent in cold deserts, Dhankar monastery is an endangered site and being on the edge it becomes one of the most beautiful monuments in this valley.
*There can be no better setting of a monument than Dhankar Monastery. We shall hike to Dhankar lake (source of water to Dhankar village) which is a steep walk of 45 minutes. The climb is optional.
*Spend some time at the lake and head back. We shall make a move towards Tabo monastery, also known as the “Ajanta of the Himalayas”,
