Wilderness Walks in Heart of India

Duration: 13 Days/ 12 Nights

Best Season: October - March

Madhya Pradesh does not resonate with the same attractiongoodwill as the other touristic places in India but then that's exactly the reason why one should be looking at this fantastic and lesser trodden destination set in the amazing natural heritage of India. What Madhya Pradesh offers is it’s medieval majesty showcasing History, Ancient architecture, national Parks and it’s forest with abundance of wilderness, animals, flora & fauna with its native people, art, culture and tribal people which is the real India. Although Madhya Pradesh is primarily known for its population of the Royal Bengal Tigers, the fact is that there is much more to be experienced in this state.

It’s large water bodies are to be talked about, the hidden mysteries of the mountain ranges of the Vindhyachal and the Satpuras are awaiting explorers, hundreds of streams brooks and waterfalls will delight an adventurer, lazy vacant roads in wilderness of the forest will delight the cyclists. The dense vegetation and the tribes residing would make one feel in a different world altogether. The Vindhyachal mountains are revered and have a distinguished status in the mythology of India. Many tributaries of the Ganga-Yamuna system originate from the Vindhyachal mountains such as the known rivers of Chambal, Betwa and Ken. River Narmada and Son drain the southern slopes of the Vindhyachal mountains.

The Bhimbetka rock shelters in Madhya Pradesh are primarily famous for housing a number of prehistoric rock paintings being an archaeological site that spans the prehistoric Paleolithic and Mesolithic periods, as well as the historic period. It exhibits the earliest traces of human life on the Indian subcontinent and evidence of Stone Age starting at the site in Acheulian times. Thus far there have been found some 760 caves on seven hills and more than 500 of these caves contain paintings and other artwork. In a wider area around Bhimbetka there are more than 1,700 rock shelters.

Best Season/ Time to Visit Madhya Pradesh

October to March - The best time to visit Madhya Pradesh is when the national Parks are also open, which post the monsoons weather is clear and provides a spectacular landscape. These months are the best one to visit the park. The second best season to experience the rich flavors of the magnificent city is during the monsoon months of July-September. With the arrival of monsoons in Madhya Pradesh, it changes into a lush paradise which is relatively lesser known. Monsoons paints this wild state lush green with streams and brooks gushing out from every nook and corner. The weather becomes wet and a bit humid sometimes but it is a very pleasant pleasant experience throughout. The Months of April To June are best avoided due to heat.
