    Uttarey: Five hours from Gangtok, Bagdogra Airport, New Jalpaiguri (N.J.P.) Railway Station and Siliguri, three hours from Darjeeling and Kalimpong and one and a half hours from Pelling – Uttarey in extreme West Sikkim is the “Virgin and Hidden Paradise on Earth”. It is popularly known as the “Base Camp of Adventure Tourism for the Singalila Range Eco-Tourism Trekking Trail TowardsKhangchendzenga” and also an important “Gate Way of International-Indo-Nepal Border Trade Route” through Chewabhanjyangla pass. It is inhabited mainly by People from Limboo Community and a small number of families from mixed communities like Bhutias, Chettris, Tamangs, Rais, Gurungs and Lepchas. The landscape of the area is moderately sloppy and gentle valley unlike other locations in west. The educated youths of this village are actively in to activities of promotion of this little valley. Culturally and traditionally rich, Uttarey appears photogenic when bough wheat farms bear flowers and harvest takes place. The village has schools, health centre, Library, computer learning centre, community meeting place, shops and nice eating places. Uttarey is coming up as a popular home stay destination.

    Magnificent show of nature

    (February - April)

    These amazing flowers are seen almost all over in West Sikkim. There are over 37 species of rhododendrons ranging from lower to high altitudes. The season to experience and enjoy the spectacular natural show of blooming of these flowers is purely nature based. The best suggested time is from February ending at lower altitudes to March end under 3000M. Then April onwards, these flowers can still be found at higher altitudes upto 4000M in May also.

    SKETCH ITINERARY

    DAY 1 Arrive Bagdogra

    12:00 noon-Depart for Uttarey. Enroute pick up Dominos’ pizza pack lunch
    4.00pm - Journey break at Jorethang (washroom) / drinks and momos
    4.30pm- Resume journey
    7.30pm – ArriveUttarey. Check into homestay. Sikkimese Cultural Welcome with “Tikkakhaoda”. Welcome hot tea with cultural performance for 15 minutes
    8.00pm - Room allocation (preset)
    8.30 pm – Dinner
    Briefing on next days program
    Overnight stay in homestay

    DAY 2 Sherpa Community Based Service Activities

    6.00 am – Tea at common area
    7.30 am – Breakfast
    8.00am – Trek to the Sherpa village (3 kms / 1.30hrs). It is a mild walk in which we will gain around 400M and this will also help us acclimatization for tomorrow’s trek
    9.30am – arrival Sherpa village (Sikkimese welcome)
    10.00am –1stactivity (all together) local language learning: “Sherpa tam” (learn 10 words) prize for one child who learns maximum words.

    10.30am – Divide group into four (approx. 7-8 in each group) 4 activities engaging / 1 hreach group (per activity)Momos plus chutney making (50 pieces)
    Chorten cleansing and painting activity
    Bamboo weaving – handicrafts, fruit baskets/ planter, Jhokh, phurting- utensil, Wall panels/roof panels – chitra, Boundary wall panel – (Chefla)
    Prayer flag creation (lungta)
    12.30pm – Lunch
    1.10 pm - Resume Activities
    3.30pm - Activities close
    4.00pm – Trek down to Uttarey (3kms/1jr)
    5.00pm – Arrive Uttrey Home stary (7500 ft)
    Leisure time/free time with tea& veg packora
    7.30pm – Dinner
    Overnight stay in homestay

    DAY 3 Uttarey –Chittrey Camp/ 9000 ft(8kms/ 5hrs)

    6.00am – Tea at common area
    7.30 am – Breakfast
    8.00am – Depart for Trek
    8.30am – Enroute visit Tront farm, Rai Community Village
    9.00am – proceed further for the camp.  Today you will cross lovely gurgling steams with frothy water.  Cross “TikshuKhola”, ‘Uttesekhola’, rhododendron sanctuary, gate and finally “Bhedikhola” stream
    2.00 pm– Arrive Chittreycamp
    Pitch your tents, activity / Welcome drink / Hot tea and coffee
    Snacks with hot soup and egg/veg chowmin
    5.00 pm – Wood collection for campfire
    6.00 pm – Bonfire with hot chocolate
    7.00 pm – Dinner / next day briefing
    Overnight stay in alpine camp

    DAY 4 Trek to Kalizar Shabnam Valley – (8 kms /5hrs)

    6.00am – Tea at common area
    7.30 - Breakfast
    8.00 am – Departure towards KalizarShabnam Valley
    Cross Chewabhanjan pass (10,300 feet).  The climb is steep from Chittarey camp for 2 kms /1 hr
    Arrive at Chewabhanjanand then a lovely walk to the KalizarShabnam Valley Camp (2kms/1hr)Snack with hot soup and veg chowmein will be served
     Arrive camp and check into pre pitched tents.
    4.00pm – Hot tea with pakoras will be served
    5.00pm – All help in camp cooking activity, make attaroties, salad, cleaning rice & dal etc.
    6.30pm – Dinner/next day’s briefing
    Overnight stay in alpine camp

    DAY 5 Trek Down to Uttarey (13 kms/7 hrs)

    4.30am – Bed tea will be served
    5.00 am – If nature is kind, enjoy one of the most spectacular sun rise not seen anywhere in the world! Peak scenes are Mt Everest, Mt Makalu, Mt Nuptse, Mt  Kumbhakama, MrKanchenjunga and many more.  All these are famous 8000 mtr plus peeks.  Great photography opportunity / Many Nepalese villages.
    8.00am - Breakfast
    9.00 am – Departure back to Uttarey pm – Lunch at “Dhapale camp”
    Hot soup / snacks / chowmin
    2.00pm – continue Trek down to Uttarey
    3.30pm – Arrive Uttarey homestay, check into rooms
    5.00 pm – Tea with veg pakoras
    6.00 pm – Farewell and celebrations with music and dance
    7.00 pm – Dinner
    8.00 pm – Next day’s briefing
    Overnight stay in homestay

    DAY 6 Transfer to Bagdogra Airport

    4.00am – Wake up, bed tea
    5.30am –Departure  for Airport
    8.30 am – Breakfast in Jorathan
    9.30 am – Sharp departure to Melli,
    10.30 am - Cross Melli as road closes for construction (very important!!)
    12.30 pm – Arrive at Bagdogra Airport
